INVITATION to the 2025 Comanche PPP
Piper Comanche and Twin Comanche Pilot Proficiency Program
Deniliquin NSW (YDLQ) Feb 28 to March 2 2025
Registrations close Friday Feb 21, 2025
The Australasian Tribe will be conducting the first Comanche Pilot Proficiency Program weekend of 2025 at Deniliquin, NSW from Friday February 28 to Sunday March 2. The course will run from 4pm Friday to lunchtime Sunday.
We are trialling a new format for the conduct of the PPP which we believe will be of interest to both new and repeat attendees. It will include a group flying exercise on Saturday morning as well as classroom briefings and individual proficiency flights.
Areas of focus will be:
- Operations at Non-controlled Airfields
- Comanche Flight Operations, and
- Key Comanche Systems.
Partners are very welcome to attend . A separate program of activities is being arranged for them. The Deniliquin Show is on that weekend so there will be a number of events to attend in Town. Deniliquin also has a nice Golf Course for those who would prefer that.
A block reservation has been made at the Coach House Hotel 99 End St, Deniliquin NSW 2710, coachhousehotel.deniliquin@gmail.com, (03) 5881 1011.
Please contact the hotel directly to book your room, making sure to say that you are attending the “Comanche Event” to obtain the agreed room rate.
We hope that as many tribe members and their partners as possible will join us for one of the two PPP weekends this year (you are welcome and will get value even if flying a “Brand X” aircraft).
Importantly, if you know someone who is flying or contemplating buying a Comanche but who hasn’t yet or hasn’t recently attended, please reach out to them and encourage them to attend. They don’t need to be an ICS member. If they are unsure of what the PPP is about you can direct them to Nigel, Lawrence, Graham, Ken or myself to explain the program in more detail.
David Miller – Australasian Tribe Chief

Program
Attendees should aim to arrive by no later than 4pm on Friday afternoon for registration and to prep their aircraft for Saturday morning.
The program will commence with a short briefing at 5PM Friday evening in the YDLQ Terminal building followed by a BBQ at the aeroclub.
Saturday morning starts with a group departure from Deniliquin to Swan Hill with all aircraft to be in the air by 9am. Coffee/Tea will be available at the Deniliquin Aeroclub from 7am but those desiring a more substantial breakfast should arrange a continental breakfast with the hotel.
Each participant will have a PPP instructor on board for either the outbound leg to Swan Hill or the return flight to Deniliquin. Those aircraft with a PPP instructor on board will detour enroute via Kerang for upper air work and a circuit or two at Kerang while the aircraft without an instructor will fly direct.
Morning Tea and first debrief will be held in the terminal at Swan Hill prior to the return flight to YDLQ.
Back at YDLQ, and after lunch, Classroom sessions will recommence with a further debrief and ground school focusing on Comanche Flight Operations presented by Tony Smith.
Dinner on Saturday night will be at the Deniliquin RSL and a guest speaker is being arranged.
Sunday morning breakfast will be at the Deniliquin Aero Club from 8am. Those who did not fly with an instructor on the Saturday or who wish to undertake specific flight sequences can do so on the Sunday. A short ground school will conclude around 11am.
As usual, the undercarriage simulator will be able for all participants to practice the emergency gear extension procedure.
Partners are very welcome to attend the weekend and there will be a separate program of activities arranged. The Deniliquin Show will be on this weekend so there will be a number of events to attend in Town.
